About Us
Women of Prayer is dedicated to women who are seeking for the love and mercy of Jesus.
Come join us! We meet once a month on a Saturday morning after the 9:00 a.m. mass. A featured speaker will present a talk on topics that will quench your spiritual needs.
It does not matter whether you are a beginner or a veteran. We welcome saints and sinners. We invite single, married, separated, divorced, and widowed. We simply ask that you come with an open heart and mind so that we can reaffirm our commitment to Christ.
It will be a time to listen to God speaking to us through Scripture. It will be a time to open our hearts to others in prayer. It will be a time to re-focus and re-commit ourselves to Christ.
MISSION STATEMENT
In an effort to bring Christ to as many women as possible through the help of our Patron, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Women of Prayer seeks to love Christ, serve souls and build the Church, starting with our own families, then our parish and extending to our community. We strive to grow in our personal holiness through deepening our prayer life and sacramental life so that we can be more perfect instruments for Our Lord Jesus to use to bring other women to Him.

Women Of Prayer
Dear Lord Jesus,
We ask You to bless this group of women who have gathered in Your name.
Instill in us a fervent desire to join with each other in prayer.
Open our hearts to Your grace, that we might feel Your presence and hear You call to us, whether in a resounding voice or a gentle whisper.
Help us to love one another as You have loved us.
To always reach out as a friend, though we ourselves may be lonely.
To show the compassion of Christ to those seeking comfort, though we ourselves may be weak in spirit.
To help carry someone else’s cross with our one hand as we struggle with our own cross with the other.
To learn how to listen with our minds but speak with our hearts.
To offer up to You our weaknesses, so that you may work through them to bring those seeking direction in their lives closer to You.
Teach us to be open to Your will, that by the intercession of our Blessed Mother, we too can answer, “May it be done to me according to your word.” (Luke 1:38)
Amen.

Highlights from Our Pilgrimage to the Franciscan Monastery and John Paul II Cultural Center
Saturday, June 13th turned out to be a beautiful, sunny day --perfect weather for the Women of Prayer's one-day pilgrimage to Pope John Paul II Cultural Center and the Franciscan Monastery.
At the PJPII Cultural Center, the women participated in a guided tour of the gallery and watched a film featuring the great papacy and life of Pope John Paul II.
A few minutes from the Center was the next stop --Mount St. Sepulchre, a Franciscan monastery of the Holy Land in America. This part of the pilgrimage included a tour of the monastery to see replicas of the catacombs and sacred shrines of the Holy Land, and to closely view genuine relics of saints. At one of the chapels, Fr. Avelino along with Bro. Vincent celebrated the Holy Mass in commemoration of the Feast of St. Anthony of Padua. Before heading off, the women strolled through the majestic gardens of the monastery to savor its serenity. (June 2009)

Reflections from the Holocaust Museum Field Trip
On January 10th, the Women of Prayer, led by Fr. Avelino Gonzalez, visited the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC.
The Holocaust museum reminded us how hatred and prejudice brought about the destruction of a society. The museum delivered a strong message that all evil must be rejected. We should embrace a culture of life. God is our creator; no human has the right to take away the life of another. (Jan 2009)

WOMEN OF PRAYER RETREAT
More than 280 women participated in the Women of Prayer retreat held on October 5, 6 and 7 at the Malvern Retreat Center in Pennsylvania.
The Malvern Retreat House, also known as St. Joseph’s-in-the-Hills is located on 125 acres of wooded countryside. Amidst the serene outdoor surroundings are shrines, Stations of the Cross and a grotto of the Virgin Mary. These holy sites provided an atmosphere of comfort and tranquility during meditation and reflection. The retreat center has five adoration chapels where the ladies spent quiet time in prayer. Individual adoration allowed private time with Jesus Christ through the Eucharist.
Fr. Dan Leary, pastor of Jesus the Divine Word Parish in Huntingtown, MD presided as retreat master. Together with Fr. John Clark, associate pastor at St. Martin of Tours in Gaithersburg, MD and Fr. Martin Scott from Peru, these men of God devoted their time and services to the women by celebrating the Holy Mass, administering confession and providing spiritual direction. Sister Maria Teresa who also traveled from Peru was available to women who sought out guidance to deepen their relationship with God.
Fr. Dan Leary talked on the theme, ‘Called to be Holy’ and presided during the Eucharistic Healing. Partaking in Eucharistic Healing allows one to reconcile themselves with the Lord.
We hope that the retreat helped the women emerge with a deeper love for God, and realize their call to be holy. (Oct 2007)
